Last week, five Year 5 pupils had the pleasure of joining their GDST peers from across the country at the GDST’s annual English event, held at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre.

The day included a wonderful opportunity to spectate a live sword-fighting demonstration and participate in a range of drama workshops focused specifically on exploring key female roles in Shakespeare’s plays and their relevance to our lives today. An up-close tour of this magnificent theatre was also included, with the day culminating in a live performance of Hamlet Storytelling based in the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse Theatre.

“The day was amazing! We learnt about the history of swords, did Drama making ourselves women from Shakespeare’s history.”Imogen, Year 5 pupil

“It was amazing to explore and learn with the other GDST girls. I really enjoyed the solo Hamlet performance. It was a wonderful day!”Romilla, Year 5 pupil
