Bromley High School held its Music Festival in the last week of the Spring term; an annual celebration of music and talent, featuring over 200 performances from pupils across all age groups.
This year pupils in Year 6 through to Year 13 performed, ranging from those who started on our 2022 Orchestral Projects through to Advanced Diploma recitals.
Alongside solo performances, we also had Composition classes and the Ensemble Class, which was a favorite of the week. Our groups did not disappoint, and the atmosphere was buzzing with excitement as we heard a diverse range of music from rock to classical trios. Each student demonstrated technical skill, dedication, confidence, and a passion for their music that made the week truly incredible.
We were fortunate to have two visiting adjudicators, Niamh Perry who is currently starring in the West End’s Harry Potter and the Cursed Child and Rosie Whitfield, who is Head of Junior Guildhall. Both adjudicators gave every performer feedback and top tips for performance and communication, in addition to having the challenging job of selecting a winner for each class.
The winners of the Senior School categories were invited to compete for the prestigious Bromley High School Musician of the Year trophy. The competition was held on the last day of term in front of the entire Senior School. All the performers and audience made this an incredibly memorable end of term, demonstrating how amazing our school community is in stepping up under pressure and supporting their peers.
We are delighted to announce that Jenna, a diploma violinist and grade 8 pianist, is our Bromley High School Musician of the Year 2023.
