Last night, Bromley High School’s team won the regional final of the ESU Public Speaking Competition, held at the ESU’s headquarters at Dartmouth House in Mayfair.
This is a major achievement for Year 11 pupils Eleanor, Lydie and Ramya, who finished ahead of all other London schools in the competition.
Eleanor delivered a commanding speech on the topic ‘In the twenty-first century, we expect more from technology and less from ourselves’ and Lydie was awarded the title of best chairperson.
The team will now progress to the national final at Cambridge University, making this the second consecutive year that Bromley High School has reached the national final.
“We had a wonderful and thought-provoking evening. The standard of the competition was very high, so it felt amazing when we were announced as the winners. We now can’t wait to go to Cambridge and take part in the final.”Ramya, Year 11
