We believe that the pastoral care of each individual in the school is of greatest importance, and we provide an outstanding supportive and caring pastoral system.
Below are some highlights of the support we offer.
School Counsellor
Our school counsellor, Liz Pattinson, delivers monthly pupil talks and workshops throughout the academic year. This half term the focus is on healthy eating, disordered eating, self-care and unhealthy coping mechanisms including self-harm. If you feel your child has been affected by these issues, please encourage them to attend the sessions which take place during lunchtime.
Pupils can attend drop-in sessions with the School Counsellor every Wednesday and Thursday. If a pupil requires more regular appointments a self-referral to the School Counsellor can be made with parental consent.
Pastoral Prefects
You can also encourage your child to reach out to our Sixth Form Pastoral Prefect Team if they need support or general advice. The Pastoral Prefects are an organised group of Sixth Form students who give up their time and run the Wellbeing Hub, every Thursday lunchtime from 1.15pm to 1.55pm in Room 28. They offer a listening ear to younger pupils who need encouragement and support with minor worries. The Wellbeing Hub also offers opportunities for pupils to play games, get creative or escape in some mindful colouring.
Library
The library offers a ‘shelf help’ section on mental health and wellbeing.
Bromley Y Webinars
To support the challenges that young people are facing in society today which affect their mental and physical wellbeing, you can also attend Bromley Y’s upcoming wellbeing webinars for parents, carers and pupils. Topics covered include: managing anxiety, anxious thoughts and worries, tackling low mood and depression, emotional based school avoidance and developing healthy study habits.
The webinars are held at 4.30pm for one hour and to help participants feel comfortable, cameras and mics must be turned off throughout, with optional interaction via the chat function.
Please see the webinars available below and register here.
