We are delighted to announce that the names of our Junior School Houses have been replaced with the names of inspirational females, better reflecting the school’s values.

Junior School pupils felt that, despite the previous Houses being named after four female authors who were significant influential characters in the world of literature, they no longer best represent the values and views of Bromley High School today.

All Junior School pupils were given the opportunity to research and write about an inspirational female, past and present, who they think best represents their House.

After a school vote, our new House names have been confirmed: Malala Yousafzai (Red), Elizabeth Windsor (Blue), Malorie Blackman (Yellow) and Amelia Earhart (Green).

Amelia Earhart replaces Austen (Green)

  • Chosen for her determination and her actions that inspired other women to follow their dreams.
  • Amelia Earhart was a true adventurer, incredibly brave and an inspiration for women everywhere. She set an example of courage, achievement, and not being afraid of envy, criticism, ignorance and indifference.
