For our Alumna of the Month interview, we spoke to Caitlin Samuelson-Powell, Creative Producer working for global brands including TikTok, Pepsico and Unilever.

Caitlin joined Bromley High School in Reception in 1999 and left in 2013, after studying A-level Maths, Photography, Psychology and Economics.  She read Media Practice at the University of Sussex.

Please can you briefly describe your current role?

I develop creative concepts and film for globally renowned brands. I’ve travelled the world to work with brands such as Unilever, Pepsico, Starbucks, Thorntons, TikTok. I also occasionally freelance on the side, creating award-winning music videos.

How did Bromley High School help shape your future career?

Bromley High School always felt like it was a bit more open to “modern” subjects than other schools. This allowed me to tailor my A-level subjects be more in line with what I wanted to do at university and played to my strengths. I also got along well with a lot of my tutors, who helped to guide me. As a dyslexic student, the small class sizes helped me to have more one-on-one time.

What aspects of Bromley High School did you most enjoy, and find most rewarding?

I found sanctuary in the Art Department, it was my safe space. Since GCSE Art, I could most often be found in the studio, getting elbows deep in oil paints or in the dark room developing images. The trust that the teachers had in us to be responsible with kit and supplies was refreshing.

What is your favourite memory of being at Bromley High School?

Summer lunches out on the field. I always loved being able to sit on the grass by the pond, despite the aggressive geese!
